Miriam Webster defines it as:

"The amount of greenhouse gases and specifically carbon dioxide emitted by something (as a person's activities or a product's manufacture and transport) during a given period."

The aforementioned things that emit these greenhouse gasses are ingrained in our everyday life — cars, planes, air conditioning, the food we eat, and so on — and are often hard to part with. But it's worth it for the planet.
